The Ambrosian hymn Te Deum is to be prayed not only on sundays and feast days after the matutin, but also especially as a benediction on secular and sacred occasions. Moreover, it was sung after the elevation. More elaborate Te Deum compositions are usually restricted to special occasions. Rathgeber combines several verses to one sentence in his Te Deum compositions. He also renounces instrumental preludes and interludes.
